How to get to San Jose, Dinagat Islands

Step by step

From anywhere in the Philippines to our office in San Jose.

   Get to Surigao City

   Surigao City, at the northern tip of Mindanao, is the gateway to Dinagat Islands. Choose how you'll get there:

   By plane

   • Fly to Surigao Airport. Flights come from Manila and Cebu; some Manila flights connect through Cebu.
   • Or fly to Butuan Airport and take a van to Surigao City (about 2–3 hours by road).

   By bus or van

   • Buses and vans from Butuan, Davao and other Mindanao cities arrive at the Surigao City Integrated Transport Terminal, next to the airport.

   By sea

   • From Leyte: RORO ferries cross from Liloan to Lipata Port, about 10 km west of the city.
   • From Cebu: passenger ships dock at the Surigao City port.
   • From Siargao: boats run from Dapa to Surigao City.

   Ride to the Boulevard Port

   Boats to San Jose leave from the Boulevard Port on Surigao City's Coastal Boulevard, beside the main Surigao port. From the airport or the bus terminal it's about 4 km, 10–15 minutes by tricycle. Tell the driver "Boulevard port, boat to San Jose". For a private ride, agree on the fare before you go.

   Take the boat to San Jose

   • Buy your ticket at the ticket office at the port. Say San Jose: other boats go to Basilisa, Dinagat, Libjo and other towns.
   • Pay the small terminal fee at the port before boarding.
   • The crossing takes about 1 hr – 1 hr 10 min past the small islands of the Surigao Strait. See the boat schedule below.
   • Seniors, PWDs and students: show your ID to get the discounted fare.
4. 4

   Arrive at the Port of San Jose

   You land in the town centre of San Jose, the capital of Dinagat Islands. Tricycles wait at the port for rides around town. Our office is at Purok 5, Poblacion, San Jose, Dinagat Islands.
