The PBMA Shrine in Barangay Aurelio, San Jose, is the headquarters and holy shrine of the Philippine Benevolent Missionaries Association (PBMA), the religious group that has played a big part in the history of the Dinagat Islands. Its large, carefully kept grounds and buildings are one of the most distinctive sights of the province.
It is an optional side trip on our tours, a short ride from San Jose (transportation about ₱50 per person, no entrance fee).
Important — dress code: proper attire is required for both men and women. Sleeveless tops and shorts are not allowed. Men are generally asked to wear long pants, and women a skirt at or below the knee; closed shoes are recommended. Loose pants can usually be rented at the gate. Please be respectful — this is a sacred place for devotees.
