Rising straight out of the Surigao Strait, the Hagakhak Rock Formation is a striking cluster of limestone rock shaped over centuries by wind and waves. Its weathered surface is lined with fine ridges and grooves, and the colours shift from grey to gold as the sun moves across it.
It is about 30 minutes by boat from San Jose port and is usually the first stop of the island-hopping day. The best time to visit is early in the morning at low tide, when the sea is calmer and the boat can come close for photos.
Please note: swimming is not allowed here because of the strong currents and waves around the rocks. This is a stop for sightseeing and photos.
